Artist Bio

A woman with wavy red hair, wearing a floral-patterned blouse and necklace, standing in front of a painted background with large green leaves and a portrait of a woman partially hidden behind the leaves.

Callan Summers got her start in art from an early age, completing her first commissioned portraits at age fourteen and illustrating her first children’s book at eighteen. Since obtaining her MFA in painting from Houston Christian University, she has worked as both a teacher and artist, focusing her artistic efforts on classical portraits and landscapes with a slight modern twist. With the help of her husband (her best marketing wingman) she seeks to create art which focuses on themes of nature, faith, and what it means to be human.

After earning her MFA in Painting from Houston Christian University, Callan began to refine her craft and develop a voice that merges classical fine art traditions with a modern sensibility. Her work often bridges realism and emotion, drawing from timeless techniques while infusing each piece with personal meaning and a contemporary touch.

As both a teacher and practicing artist, she believes deeply in the power of art to connect, to remind us of beauty, and to reflect the divine presence woven into everyday life. With the encouragement (and marketing savvy) of her husband—her biggest supporter and creative teammate—Callan continues to explore themes rooted in nature, faith, and the human experience.

Her portraits and landscapes are not just depictions of people or places; they are reflections on belonging, grace, and the quiet strength found in creation. Through her work, Callan invites viewers to slow down, look closely, and rediscover wonder in both the sacred and the ordinary.
